THE WORLD'S LARGEST TROPICAL WETLAND IN THE HEART OF BRAZIL
SURROUNDED YOURSELF BY SPECTACULAR SIGHTS AND INCREDIBLE WILDLIFE

About Pantanal

The Pantanal is a natural region encompassing the world's largest tropical wetland area. It is located within the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Various sub regional ecosystems exist, each with distinct hydrologicalgeological and ecological characteristics, making this region as diverse as it is beautiful.

Roughly 80% of the Pantanal floodplains are submerged during the rainy seasons, nurturing a biologically diverse collection of aquatic plants and supporting a wide variety of animal species. Join us on a journey into the wild!

DAILY ITINERARY

DAY 1 - Pousada Piuval

We’ll meet at the airport and start our fascinating journey to the Pantanal’s swamp region. We’ll drive to Pousada Piuval, one of the most amazing and impressive places for birdwatching. Due to the proximity to a large variety of natural habitats such as rivers, grazing areas, swamps, and large vegetation, we’ll get to see multitudes of bird species that live in the area: The Giant Blue macaw - the largest parrot species in the world, the great Jabiru stork and other kinds of storks. In the evening, after dinner, we’ll go over some animal photography techniques, in preparation for the next few days.

DAY 2 - Pousada Piuval - Porto Jofre

We’ll start the day with breakfast in a lodge, and from there we’ll head out to photograph wild animals in the area. After lunch, we’ll drive to Porto Jofre and explore the swamps, to see animals such as the greater rhea, jabirus, armadillos, capybaras, howler monkeys, anteaters, tapirs, and countless rare bird species. After sunset, we’ll return to our lodge for dinner with a spectacular view.

DAY 3 - In search of the Jaguars - By motorboat

We’ll spend the next few days searching, observing and photographing the jaguar - our main objective. During the daytime, we’ll sail through a number of rivers by motorboat, in search of this wonderful animal. The jaguar in this area remains in sight for a while and can be photographed under relatively favorable conditions. Although our main goal is to find the jaguar, we can’t ignore the many wonderful birds and animals in the area: the giant river otters, tapirs, capybaras, howler monkeys, caiman crocodiles, anacondas, other reptiles, and countless species of water birds.

DAY 4-7 - In search of the Jaguars- sailing through the rivers

After an early breakfast, we’ll board the motorboats and cruise to the National Park, the best area in all of Pantanal for jaguar sighting. We’ll spend the next few days sailing through the rivers, observing the many animals in the area, taking advantage of the best hours for photography, watching many species of birds, and of course, seeing and photographing the jaguars on the riverside. Being on the boar allows us to try out different angles, and our full days in the field will let us experiment with the natural sunlight.

DAY 8 - Nort Pousada Piuval

On our journey upstream to the Northern Pousada Porte Jofre, we'll continue exploring the wonder that is the Pantanal, searching for jaguars and giant river otters. Hear the birds' calls and fluttering wings from above, see the scattering in the leaves, taste the moist, thick air, and immerse yourself in the mystery and intrigue of the deep jungles of Brazil.

DAY 9 - In the search for the Giant anteaters

There's nothing quite as exhilerating as seeing the action of the wild, untamed jungle. On our Pantanal expedition, we'll search for predators, specifically, the jaguar. We'll also search for the giant anteater in the swamps along the way. Use the skills you've gained over the past week to photograph the wildlife and capture the mysticism of the wilderness.

DAY 10 - Goodbye Pantanal

After an early breakfast, during which we’ll reflect on all our wonderful experiences and share our photos, we'll start heading back to the airport. Returning home after this exhilerating journey can be difficult, so it's a good thing you have all those photos to relive this experience from home.
